Website accessibility
BWY Wales Region recognises and values the provision of information on this website in a format which is accessible to all users. Should you have difficulty in accessing information on any of the pages, please let us know what problem you have encountered.
Web standards compliance
Our website adheres to recognised web standards. We follow the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and believe that our pages comply with priority guidelines 1, 2, and 3. This is a very subjective assessment because many accessibility features cannot be tested using third party validators. The site has been developed using valid XHTML and CSS. Most of the site content is separated from presentational elements, rendering the content accessible to visitors who use screen readers or text-only browsers.
Text size
The site uses relative font sizes so that users can change the text size by using their browser's text size controls.
Navigation aids
Users with limited physical capabilities may navigate the website without using a mouse, but by pressing the tab key to move through the hyperlinks on each page. There is a site map from which visitors may gain direct access to all pages on the website.
Access keys
Access keys allow you to jump to specific places on the page or website. All pages use access keys for skip to content, jump to navigation bar, and jump to top of page links. The first two of these links are not normally visible, except when navigating by means of the tab key. Access keys assist navigation by tabs, and are essential for those who use screen readers. Functionality depends on the type of operating system. In general,
- Windows Internet Explorer:
press 'Alt' + the access key; release, then press 'Enter'. - Windows Mozilla:
press 'Shift' + 'Alt' + the access key. - Macintosh browsers: press 'Control' + the access key.
